Program Notes
This composition is built around the idea of contrasting energies. In “chasing,” the alto saxophone moves between moments of intense runs and spacious sustains. This combination of rushing, fleeting glimpses of tonality and frozen moments of held notes evokes the idea of chasing someone or something, hence the title.
